Q: Do all projects require quotes, and how accurate are they?

All projects are estimated once details have been collected and analyzed.

Price quotes are generated displaying an estimated range of time based on a 3-proof method of design. The range of time forecasts a low and high estimate, with our target being somewhere in the middle of that range. If we are able to adhere to three proofs then we will be able to adhere to the range of estimated time.

If more than three proofs are requested, then additional time may be accrued, but in this unlikely scenario, we will not proceed past any provided range of estimated time without a client consultation in advance.

Once an estimate has been approved, a production schedule is generated to provide targeted completion dates for each aspect of the project.

Q: Is a deposit required?

For first-time clients, we require a 50% deposit on the highest amount of the agreed estimate, with the balance due on completion.

Q: Are payment terms offered?

After initial projects are completed and on approved credit, we can extend payment terms ranging from 5 days to 15 days.

Q: What payment methods are accepted?

accepts cash, cheque, VISA, Mastercard + INTERAC Online.

Q: Who owns the artwork once the project is completed?

Once payment has been received, all finished/press files are the property of the client, and by request, can be archived to any desired format for your records.

All source files used internally for the preparation of finished files remain the intellectual property of unless otherwise indicated at the onset of the project.

In some prearranged instances, source files may be transferred to clients for use within their organization in exchange for a "source file fee".

The industry standard for copyright transfer is 300% of the total bill so if you paid for an item that totalled $200 in design fees, be prepared to offer about $600 for the source files.

Q: Do you offer printing services?

Yes. We are happy to help you with any of the press-ready files that are built for your project, and can recommend a printer best suited for the scope of your project. Printing preferences vary and we offer absolute flexibility when it comes to getting your work in hard copy form. We can broker the job for you or simply provide the coordination between our designers and the printer of your choice.

Q: How long should my website last?

The longevity of your site is dependent upon several factors, which include the evolution of web technologies, the state of your brand and your comfort level with the evolution of web design.

As a rule, any site design should be able to withstand 2-3 years without looking out of place online; many of the sites built here have last 5+ years. In much the same way as clothes will fall out of fashion, websites can fall victim to looking stale and out of date if left alone. Often sites can go through simple updates to get them aligned with current web technologies.

Q: What is a CMS?

CMS = Content Management System.

It is essentially a computer program (or software) that lets people publish, edit and modify content for a website from a central place located online. Using a CMS does not require the download and installation of any software to a computer; using a CMS is done online, through a web interface or dashboard.

Q: Why do you choose to use Wordpress as your CMS?

WordPress is open source web software that you can install on your web server to create your website, blog, community, or network.

Wordpress is the most widely used, widely supported CMS in the world today. It grows with the strength of user-based support and evolves with each and every online change.

Eggbeater can design + build your site, but anyone with Wordpress experience can edit and maintain the site. We are always here to give you help when you need it, but there are developers worldwide that can support the architecture.

Q: Are there other CMS's out there?

Yes.  There are many different CMS offerings available, with the more widely known systems being Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla.

Eggbeater provides primary development in the open-source Wordpress CMS and provides support to a proprietary CMS called Vortex.

Q: What is a Wordpress Plugin?

Plugins extend and expand the functionality of WordPress.

Q: What are the most common plugins you use?

UpdraftPlus - Can back up WordPress websites of any size. It runs wherever WordPress does, has a vast number of storage options and a host of useful features and functions

Wordfence - Continuously prevents, patrols and protects your WordPress websites against today’s ultra-advanced cyber attacks, hacks and online security threats.

Yoast SEO - Is a Search Engine Optimization plugin.

Google Analytics - Track your WordPress site easily with the latest tracking codes and lots of added data for search result pages and error pages.

Form 7 - Can manage multiple contact forms, plus you can customise the form and the mail contents flexibly with simple markup. The form supports Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filtering and so on.

Q: What are Wordpress Themes?

A theme is the design framework that displays your content within Wordpress.

The theme changes the aesthetic and function of your website, and can be switched without altering the content.

Themes are available as pre-built or custom-built options.

Eggbeater Creative builds all their client sites using custom themes we design in house; every theme we design and build is assembled from scratch using a theme structure that was developed in our studio.

Our "parent" theme is called "Whisk" and we are very proud of how it works. It is not only highly adaptive and flexible, but it allows us to custom build sites from scratch in less time than it takes to modify existing "do-everything" themes that anyone can purchase.

Q: Why do you design + build every website from scratch?

We build every site from scratch so that it will perform quickly, respond easily and be only as big as it needs to be.

Pre-built themes carry a lot of bulk, since they have been designed to handle a multitude of functions and usability scenarios. They tend to be overbuilt and can be cumbersome to manage and update. Excessive plugins and functions open up more avenues for vulnerabilities and take more time to trouble-shoot.

Eggbeater Creative builds all custom themes from scratch using a parent framework that was designed in our studio to allow for exact customizations and adaptability.
